Corrected. (Thanks TBINDMD)? This is the GT4 Performance. Video

Most people think that sound is the electric motor and immediately comment on how they hate it. Gear whine won’t sell to the public.

Photo: charging next to Boxster EV prototype

I’m referring to the front, not the rear. The angle of the front fender of the car relative to the driver door is much sharper than a current Boxster. There could be many reasons for it, one of which could be a vent to he added.

Typical test mule fare. I’m actually surprised this car is this far along, given they haven’t even revealed the Macan yet.

Interesting sharp fender angle just in front of the doors. Looks like the body hugs in and it could sport a vent like the Taycan.

Porsche 718 Boxster convertible EV spotted charging at 170kw rate

It needs to have at least 400hp and 400ftlbs of torque, 200+ mile range, and be under 3,800 lbs. There’s no way it will be close to the weight of the current Boxster if it’s going to have a minimum acceptable range. For me to be interested it would need to push 500hp450ftlbs at that weight.

GT4 e-Performance EV unleashed at the Race of Champions Sweden

The sound is due to straight cut gears used in a race car. The street car will not sound like that.

    Boxster EV Rendering

Agreed. They won’t make it less aerodynamic than the current 718, which has a much sleeker front end.

    Boxster EV Rendering

Front end doesn’t look very aerodynamic.

Porsche 718 / 983 Boxster EV Electric - spotted testing

But won’t it have to have a smaller battery than the Taycan? Also, we all know how protective Porsche is of the performance hierarchy of its model lines. Here’s hoping they are comfortable shifting all of that upward with the transition to electric.

Porsche 718 / 983 Boxster EV Electric - spotted testing

If it has at least 500hp/400ft lbs of torque, my interest is piqued.

Porsche 718 / 983 Boxster EV Electric - spotted testing

Waiting to see the price - performance figures before getting too excited myself. I’m interested as long as it materially gaps the current ICE Caymans. After owning the Taycan, the powertrain in my GT4 felt lacking.

Porsche 718 / 983 Boxster / Cayman EV Sports Car Announced For 2025 Launch

The Polestar I saw in traffic looked really chintzy in real life. Was not impressed.

Porsche 718 / 983 Boxster / Cayman EV Sports Car Announced For 2025 Launch

No way. Sell now and wait 3-4 years for a car that might come out? To make a few bucks? I’ll spend the next three years enjoying my epic GT4 and worry about the next car when it’s reality and not a render in a magazine.
