Lamborghini has really pronounced visual design, so I'm somewhat surprised.
I personally like elegant but subdued, like the original Model S, or Taycan (on the verge of too flashy). I couldn't care less if Honda copied the Taycan design for their next Civic. Full disclosure, I like driving...
It took me 20 months to get a custom order Taycan in the US. Given Porsche only allocated 256 units of 2023 Turbo CT to the US market, that's approximately one per dealer. Porsche and their dealers like playing exclusivity games.
Better yet - standardize on wireless charging, which would have the added benefit of forcing people to park within their parking spots, instead of across spots, which sometimes is due to charge port location, other times because people can't, or don't care to, drive their cars with any more...
Now here is an idea for Porsche build feature - Skin To Rendering option! You provide your AI rendering, they reskin the car to your liking - essentially creating a kit car bolted onto the original chassis, paint whatever color, heck, spring few hundred grand and they'll make all the panels from...
Drive's side far rear works for Tesla or passenger's side far forward is the only thing that works for the original Tesla supercharger cables without having to straddle parking spots. New superchargers have cables long enough to charge a Rivian R1T or F150 Lightening while in the parking spot...
Of course another pricey 911. I think that was expected. It's also consistent with Porsche's official new strategy to milk their current technology, specifically the 911's, with high priced, exclusive cars.
Heck, even Tesla jumped on the exclusive collectibles bandwagon with the limited edition...
There is one legit user for mobile charger still. I forgot about it earlier as I personally only ever used it once in 10 years, but just talked with someone who was thinking of going to Europe for a couple of months and leaving their EV at the airport for that time. The airport has EV charging...
I agree with your thoughts on the carrying a mobile charger. In a decade of driving EV's, the only time I ever used my mobile charger was when I drove to visit relatives for a week, and plugged in the mobile EVSE in their garage - I knew ahead of time this was the plan. With the Taycan, out of...
Catching up on updating threads like this, adding my garage to the "for those who wish to overdo it".
There are 2 additional NEMA 14-50 wall receptacles on the back of the garage, one by each car, in case we needed to use a plug-in one. One of the NEMA 14-50 is connected to a whole house...
That is really sad. Makes you wonder how they managed to screw up the entire line of EVSE's and whether or not whatever in their decision making process allowed this to happen can also happen to their car designs.
You know what's even sadder, the one and only competitor which has a proprietary...
There exist valid reasons for making EVSE not accept all cars. For example:
If you have a condo reserved parking spot at which you install an EVSE, you might want to not allow other cars to charge for free (whether parking in your spot or adjacent spots). Again for Tesla Wall Chargers there...
Actually that is a logical fallacy. Just because EV vehicles need to accept charge from any EVSE following the standard, does not meat that every EVSE must accept any vehicle which follows the standard. Tesla allows you to lock your wall charger to Tesla only vehicles, perhaps even specific VINs...
Your electrician should tell you (or the inspector will), you cannot have a 240V plug (socket actually) connected to 100A circuit. There is a way you can do it, but you will have to add a new 50A breaker between the 100A circuit and the 50A NEMA 14-50 for example. Your other option, probably...
You might have an issue with a 60A breaker feeding a 14-50 plug. NEMA 14-50 is only rated for 50A, therefore the breaker should be 50A or less. Larger wires (rated for more) are totally fine and will pass inspection no problem.
