Fair enough. Thanks for the explanation. I drive an Audi EV, and the new software update has been much better about those issues. I'm hoping that the software in the 718EV is minimal.

You are most welcome! I failed to mention that I have owned two Taycan's MY21 base and MY24 4S. I had over 5 years and 50k miles in them. I could not handle the software any longer. Simple things like LTE connectivity, Carplay not connecting, service issues and endless recalls took their toll on me. If you look at my posts in the Taycan forum, you will see I loved the car's design and the drive. I do hope the 718 EV will be better, but I doubt they can resolve the software issues in the time frame that they have to bring the vehicle to market.
I suggest you schedule a test drive in the brand new cayenne EV; to see the latest in software porsche offers.

I think you would be pleasantly surprised. I for sure was, and would put it on par with tesla/chinese evs in terms of usability. There are however no features such as farting seats

And if we assume things are only gonna get better, then all the more reasons to be happy.

Of course, the matter of porsche’s “we don’t update older cars with nee feature” mentality is still and issue / question mark.

And if FSD is mandatory, i dont think porache will ever bring a similar system to market, as it goes against the porsche mentality of driving cars, not being driven by cars

Forget fsd. Farting seats are mandatory. 😆

Carplay issues are a constant everywhere. I have issues in my Lotus Emira and in my Porsche Macan EV, whereas it's never worked in my Tesla Model S (it doesn't support it).

There are pros and cons between our experiences. For example, Porsche is very conservative wrt. estimated remaining range whereas Tesla is wildly optimistic, to the point of blatantly lying.

I'm android, so I don't use carplay. The built in route guidance in Audi is pretty good, albeit conservative at estimating range. I will often start a trip with an estimated 10% on arrival, only to finish with more than 20% in the battery (even across mountains). Better to be safe, I guess.

Not any longer. Tesla has changed the guessometer to now account for battery degradation. While the Taycan was extremely accurate, my Model Y has consistantly been at 0%-1% error rate. They used to estimate on EPA range, now its on actual battery capacity.

Since new on 7/25, I have recieved at least 15 software and FSD updates. Each one makes the car better. I was one of the idiots back in 2021 that believed PAG's over the air software update claims.

As for the "farting seats", I place that in the same category as launch control in the Porsche. I have never launched a Porsche or used any of the Tesla gimmicks.

I don't know how your government regulates your driving, but here in the US it is becoming quite restrictive. Speed camera's are all over NY and other states. It is only going to get worse with the Flock network of cameras. My original plan was to go back to the 911 (I have had 4 and a GT3), but it is becoming apparent to me that spirited driving is slowing disappearing here. I am trying to decide if its worth it or will it just become a source of frustaration.

My favorite is "push to pass". Gotta pay ~$1500 to place an eyeball on the dash so we can push a little button and magically unlock 20% of the total power.

Come to Houston. Zero traffic enforcement. Hell zero law enforcement.

I think battery capacity is how Audi does it, too. Battery capacity divided by efficiency. As the efficiency changes, so does range.

I’m reporting my actual experience today, so I don’t need your correction, thank you.
