E-Shift for 718 EV?

How about the new E-Shift feature in the Taycan, will this be available on the 718 EV when the model is debuted? Will this be standard feature or option?

Yes, it will be avaliable. It's already been spotted / heard around nurburing this year, before they even announced it for the Taycan.

Likely a paid option, like EVERYTHING in Porsche land.

I honestly don't think I'd pay for this. I see it as up there with the electronic sport sound in the list of top gimmicks that you don't use unless you're showing a mate or making a video for social media

I had a Q4 for a short period of time featuring paddle “shifters” that controlled the regen level. This came in handy for hills as I had regen disabled by default. Audi has no assignable meta button. I wish the Macan had two like the Taycan.

An e-shift system for the 718 EV sounds like an interesting idea, especially for drivers who enjoy more control and engagement behind the wheel. It would be interesting to see how Porsche balances simulated gear changes with the smooth power delivery of an electric drivetrain. Even with an EV, components such as wheel bearings and drivetrain precision bearings remain important for efficiency, durability, and a quiet driving experience.

I could care less about fake engine noises and simulated shift points, but I do like the idea of using the paddles to adjust regen. I've heard different things about regen/one-pedal driving in a Porsche. My A6 e-tron has OP driving, which is great because it's a highway cruiser. Not sure I would need it as much in city driving. Shifting my foot over 4" isn't a huge deal.... Just curious, though, if you've heard if B mode will be true OP drive?

Our next Porsche EV will be our 58th vehicle, with most of the first half being purchased used, but most of last 25-30 all custom ordered new, e.g., been buying vehicles for part or all of 7 decades. During that time read about hundreds of vehicle “so-called advancements.” Some I dismissed outright with ever trying, but learned the hard with with a couple of those that I had mistakenly not given those two a chance, e..g, not personally trying out what was new before it pre-judging it.. Now I try first. Test drives are a great way to do so, as well as friend‘s buying something new first.

I tried and disliked both the Taycan and before that even the iX M60 Hans Zimmer sounds. But I tried them first.

I hope that whenever possible folks take a test drive with the Taycan’s and/or the 718 EV‘s E-shift before dismissing it out of hand.
